Emotional weight-loss/gain

On this wellness journey of mine, I have realized that not only can you be physically overweight but you can be emotionally overweight. The way we store and gain emotional fat is similar to the way we can gain physical fat. Just like we have a physical metabolism, we too have an emotional metabolism . We are both body, spirit & soul. The sooner we can fully comprehend how the different mechanisms of ourselves, are parallel, that is when I believe we’ll be able to see how to care for each one properly.

How Does One become Emotionally overweight?

Emotions are just energy in motion and the thing about energy is that it doesn’t die. So when we experience these emotions, if we don’t allow them to flow out of our bodies, we suppress and trap them. This can cause energy blocks . Whether we are aware of them or not, just by living life and oftentimes going down memory lane, emotions are always being produced. If emotions are still producing when there’s already energy blocks , how can the new ones find release?

Emotional obesity is stuck, unaddressed emotional issues, pain, and trauma that we’ve encountered that has now begun to ruminate in our minds and body.

Just like when we don’t workout or eat right, our bodies can begin to store fat. Likewise, when you don’t fully process an emotion or consume positivity , our bodies begins to store those emotions.

Symptoms of Emotional Obesity

When the capacity of energy increases in our bodies, it will weigh us down energetically, mentally & spiritually. Here are some all around symptoms of emotional overweightness:

Spiritual

  • resentment
  • depression
  • increased stress and anxiety
  • suicidal

Physical:

  • increased stress and anxiety
  • fatigue
  • cancer
  • headaches
  • disease

Soul (mind, will + emotions)

  • self-blaming
  • casting blame on others
  • feeling depressed
  • withdrawing from social activities
  • the way you think about yourself
  • resentment
  • how you react to stress
  • fatigue
  • depression
  • Poor decision making
  • increased stress and anxiety
  • self-sabotage
  • overreaction

How to lose emotional weight

Just like the 80/20 rule regarding physical weight-loss that says, “weight-loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise”. Likewise , emotional weight loss is 80% energy intake and 20% energy management.

Energy Intake

fun fact: god is love and love is considered the highest form of energy. thoughts are considered energy signals and energy signals have zero average power. That means thoughts have no power (unless you give them power), so thoughts are just signals for the state of the energy that’s being produced.

I’m going to share a few of God ‘s formulas for what we should be feeding our energy field (spirit).

Just like we feed our bodies organic and healthy foods, we need to feed our soul (mind, will and emotions) organic and healthy things. How organic can it get when it comes to the word of god?

Formula #1: Consume the word of God

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Matthew 4:4

Formula #2 Hear the word of God

“Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God”

Romans 10:17

Studies suggest that our hearing is connected to our emotional processing (energy field).

formula #3 Think positively

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Philippians 4:8

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”. Proverbs 23:7

Implementing these formulas 80% of the time will for sure build an energetic armor against any negative energy that may try to weigh you down, but to also help release and rid you of any energy blocks.

These formulas are like laxatives. They help to regulate your emotional processing by flushing out negative energy and by creating an aromatic atmosphere that repels negativity also.

Energy management

Just like we have to process food that enters our system, Emotions too need to be processed . We have to begin logically & diligently participating in the regulation of our emotions on a daily basis.

  1. feel and experience

Acknowledge & Validate what emotions your thoughts are signaling to you and the feelings your body is experiencing. When these things arise, sit with it, don’t identify with it but identify it, because again if those emotions are negative like fear, that isn’t a part of our identity .If its an emotion that’s positive, like love ,then you can identify with it.

Don’t run away from the emotion, analyze it. What circumstances arose that produced this energy in motion? How does it make you feel? What does it make you feel like you want to do? Don’t act on it , but just study it thoroughly. If the emotions don’t serve you then you do the next 2 steps:

2. Disarm the emotion

If fear was the energy produced, you can disarm it by neutralizing your energetic field with the word of god. Meditating on 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” will dismantle the electric structure of fear. With consistency, This method will also help prevent negative energy from permeating your energetic field.

ps. The word of god is an actual weapon..

“the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12

3. release it & detach it from your identity

Now after you have identified the emotion that’s at play, & you’ve also removed any power that it had over you, you now need to release it . There are many ways to release negative energy. You can speak it out (life in death is in the power of the tongue), you can workout to exert it , etc.

The ultimate way to release negative energy is to produce Love. Love is a neutralizing energy. that’s why 1 john 4:18 says this, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”

Love overcomes any negative emotion .

If you have a baby and somehow a lion was preying on your baby , you would put yourself in between that lion and the baby without fear, because you love your baby.

I hope that make sense.

It’s important to know that all emotions aren’t created equally, The higher the emotional intensity, usually the more likely it is to become trapped. if you haven’t been working on your energy controls, High emotional intensity may be harder to control. That means you may have to incorporate physical release to assist in the energy extraction.

Emotional Metabolism

Our emotional metabolism assists us in distinguishing and absorbing energy that enables us and removing energy that disables us.

There was a blog that compared negative emotions to junk food:

Just as we can walk through life eating junk food and unknowingly harming our health, so too can we go through life constantly generating and taking in “junk food emotions” – constant worry, jealousy, judgment, fear, unwarranted anger, self attack, disappointment and more.”

The symptoms that we get for an unhealthy diet are similar to the symptoms we get for consuming “junk food emotions” . Symptoms like fatigue, irritability, etc.

so with all of this being said, cleanse your energy field and monitor your emotional metabolism so that you can be emotionally ” in shape”.
